Happy Thanksgiving!

The turkey is roasting in the oven, spiral ham is waiting to go in next, 4 layer dessert in the refrigerator, broccoli casserole ready to be baked, getting ready to put the corn casserole together, peel the potatoes and the list goes on. You would think we're having a bunch of people over but we're not. My son and his family are going to my daughter in law's aunts house and my daughter and her family are going over to her sister in law's house. However, they will all be coming over here this evening to eat their favorite dishes.
.
I got up a little earlier today, about 7:45 because I wanted to get the turkey in the oven and run the dishwasher while Poppy was still sleeping. Poppy sleeps late while I put the turkey on and watch The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is about the only day of the year that Poppy gets to sleep late. I love, love, love the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! I was at the parade in 2004. I hope to go back there on Thanksgiving Day to see the parade again. However, I was in NYC in October and I did go to Macy's and got this years parade ornament and several other ornaments.
.
.
I have so many things to be thankful for this year! The top 2 would be my new grandson, Brody and retirement. It does not get much better than that!

Happy Thanksgiving

Friday night Andy and Ben came over after school to spend the night. I made Hot Dogs for dinner but Andy insisted on a peanut butter sandwich. For dessert I made them ice cream cones with half Rainbow Sherbet and half Mint Chocolate Chip. They loved it. Saturday morning I made pancakes and bacon for them. Andy ate probably 6 pieces of bacon! Grammy Cathy and PaPa Jerry came and picked them up to take them for a day of fun. They went to Medieval Times. I heard they had a great time and their team won. I also heard that Andy would not eat but Ben did. I can not wait to see them again so they can tell me all about their adventure.
*
Brandon, LeAnn and Brody left Saturday for a little vacation. They plan to be back Tuesday evening. While they are gone I have their dogs, Haus and Molly. This has been a lot of fun so far. (I have a quilt and blanket on the wood floors for them to lay around on.)

Marcy, Kevin, Andy and Ben left Sunday morning to go camping in their 5th wheel trailer. They plan to be home sometime Wednesday but until then I also have their dog, Belle.

I stayed up later than Poppy on Saturday night because I was watching a Christmas movie on the Hallmark channel. When I got ready to go to bed I found Belle and Molly laying on my side of the bed and Poppy on his side. Haus was on the floor asleep on a blanket. Poppy and Haus were having a snoring contest. So I slept in the guest room.

*

Last night I got in my bed early and watched a little TV. Belle and Molly slept on the sofa and Haus slept in the recliner in my room. I must have been dead asleep all night because I did not hear any snoring.

*

Every time I get up to put a load in the washing machine or dryer I have 3 big old boxers following me. They are so afraid they are going to miss something.

*

Today I am in the sewing room getting it straightened up. Then I plan to do some sewing. I have several things I am working on for Christmas that I need to finish up. This is the first time in over 21 years that I have been off work for the entire week of Thanksgiving. I always had Thanksgiving and the day after off and occasionally I would take an extra vacation day. I love retirement ! Now I have the whole week off and I have time to enjoying my Thanksgiving cooking. I just remembered to take the turkey out of the freezer and into the refrigerator so it can start thawing. I still need to go to the grocery store and pick up a few more things. Oh I just love, love, love Thanksgiving and all the food and family time.

Never a dull moment at Nana's

I found some pictures on my camera that were taken last weekend so I wanted to share a few of them. I did not take these pictures so I guess my daughter or Poppy took them.

Poppy took the boys to the Party Store and they came home with a bag of balloons and a balloon pump. They made all kinds of interesting things.

Ben's balloon boat

How cute is Ben? His Mommy has let his hair grow out and I love it! This is a picture of him getting ready for church.

We went to Papadeux for lunch after church. Ben and Poppy ate some fried alligator!

And I had to post this cute little picture of Brody. He doesn't get to spend Friday night at Nana & Poppy's house yet but his Mommy said soon. I can't wait.
*
This past weekend was very busy for me. On Saturday Poppy & I helped my Mother move to her new apartment. I got home around 7:30 Saturday evening and I was pooped! Sunday after church I took Mother and her 2 little Chihuahuas to get their vaccinations. Then we made a trip to Wal-Mart. I got home around 6:30 Sunday night.

Yesterday I was hoping to sleep late but then I remembered I had a doctor's appointment at 8:30. This was a follow up visit with my gastrointernologist. When I saw him in January he wanted to see me again in July to run more blood work because my liver enzymes have been high for a couple of years. He also wanted me to lose at least 10 pounds. It took several months to get my Cobra insurance started since retiring in June so I was just now able to go to the doctor for the recheck. So yesterday was the big day and guess what? My doctor came in with a big smile and the look of shock on his face because I had lost 36 pounds since January! He could not believe it. But the best part is that my blood pressure was down and best of all my liver enzymes were within normal limits! My diet you ask? I quit drinking all of the Diet Cokes and started drinking real Dr. Peppers but only 1 or 2 a day. I also started watching everything I was eating. I cut down on bread & sweets. Oh and probably the most helpful thing is that I do not sit a desk for 8 hours.

A busy day so far . . . .

This morning I got up at 5:30 am ! I think this is the first time since I retired. I do not miss getting up this early anymore. I love getting to sleep in to at least 8:30 on most days. However, there was a reason I was up so early this morning. I had to take my sister and her friend to the airport. They are on their way to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico for 10 days. This morning I was really wishing that I was going with them. Poppy told me I could go if I wanted to but I have a lot of things to do here right now so maybe I will go with them in May. I can not believe that it has already been a year since I was down there with them. They promised that they would play a Bingo card for me this afternoon. And I promised to go buy their Lottery tickets for them.

After I dropped the girls off at the airport I stopped at Target. I was there for 2 hours and enjoyed every minute of it because no one was there. I bought a couple of DVD movies and a few Christmas presents for the grandsons.
*
Andy is really into reading these days and loves chapter books. His favorite are Magic Tree House and Junie B. Jones books. I found 2 new books for him at Target and I can not wait until tomorrow night when him and Ben come spend the night so we can read them.
*

Well it is time to get off of the Internet so I can get some sewing done. I have an order for some monogrammed burpies and some kitchen towels. Then I have to finish some Christmas gifts that I am monogramming.

Today at Nana's House. . . .

Today Brody came over to spend the day with me. Yesterday he had a little fever so he can not go to his day care until the fever has been gone for 24 hours. So far, he does not have fever. Right now he is taking a little morning nap. I have officially put his pack and play up in the "boys" room. I am sure Andy and Ben will be excited that Brody has a bed in there now. Hopefully Brody will get to spend the night with Nana and Poppy soon.

I love to watch Brody sleep. He always sleeps with his hands above his head. Oh I just love him so much!
